Greetings,
The Cherry Hill School District is expanding its preschool program during the 2024-2025 school year for Cherry Hill
residents as a direct result of receiving Preschool Expansion Aid (PEA) from the New Jersey Department of Education
(NJDOE) on October 18, 2023. Our program is a mixed delivery program in which preschool classrooms are held both in
the district and at surrounding private providers with whom we have partnered. We offer a FREE, full day program, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. Children must be three (3) or four (4) on
or before October 1, 2024. Transportation is provided for eligible students based on district policy. If your child is not
eligible for transportation, you will be responsible for transportation to and from school. It is imperative that your child arrives and departs on time daily. Late arrivals and early departures are disruptive to the
class routines and interfere with the education of all of the children. We CANNOT have early or late pick up arrangements
unless you are participating in before or aftercare. If you are interested in enrolling your typically developing child, you must fully register your child during our
24-25 Preschool Enrollment window (Monday, March 4, 2024 - Friday, March 15, 2024). To begin the registration
process, please go onto our Cherry Hill Public School District website to Pre-Register. Go to www.chclc.org, select
Departments, then Registration. Registration cannot be completed without all required documentation being
uploaded. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER AND SUBMIT ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS BY FRIDAY, MARCH
15, 2024 TO BE CONSIDERED FOR PLACEMENT FOR THE 24-25 SCHOOL YEAR.
Once all required documents are uploaded, your child will be assigned a student ID by the Registration
Department. The following day, 3 required forms will be available in your Genesis Parent Access account. All
forms must be completed and submitted by the deadline (March 15, 2024) in order for your child to be eligible for
placement.
It is imperative that all children are fully registered to ensure adequate transportation, secure student placements,
and plan necessary events to start the school year, such as our “Sneak-n-Peek” for families and students to have the
opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and visit their classroom before the start of the school year.
Any children not FULLY registered by March 15, 2024 will not be placed on the waitlist or considered for a seat
for the 24-25 school year. Families may request a registration appointment and/or direct registration questions to
eguerriero@chclc.org or 856-429-7283 ext. 4040 to ensure the timeline is met.
After completing registration, families will be notified via email or US mail of their child’s placement (waitlist or at a
CHPS Preschool location) during the week of April 22, 2024. Please do NOT call Malberg ECC to inquire about status.
Those offered placement at a CHPS Preschool location will have one week to accept the placement before a seat is offered
to a child on our waitlist. Failure to accept the placement within the one week period will constitute a declination of
enrollment.
To help you learn more about our program, please visit our district website, www.chclc.org
Important Points to Remember:
1. If your child is already a student at a CHPS Preschool location, there is no need to complete the registration
process.
2. Children MUST be residents of Cherry Hill.
3. Transportation will be provided for eligible students based on district policy.
4. Children must be at least 3 or 4 years old as of October 1, 2024. -
CHPS Awarded Preschool Education Aid by NJDOE
At a celebratory event held at our own Estelle V. Malberg Early Childhood Center on October 18, 2023, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) announced that 26 school districts, including the Cherry Hill Public Schools, will receive Preschool Education Expansion (PEA) Expansion.
The District requested $3,417,615 in PEA to tentatively serve 249 full-day, general education, preschool students in 2023-2024.
"We are thrilled that our application for Preschool Education Aid Expansion has been approved," said Acting Superintendent Dr. Kwame Morton. "This will allow us to reach a much larger portion of young learners, providing key learning opportunities and helping facilitate their long-term success."
Assistant Superintendent, PreK-12 and Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Farrah Mahan, expressed equal enthusiasm at the news.
"This will immersurably enhance our excellent educational programs," Dr. Mahan said. "We are excited to move forward with our expansion plans. It's wonderful to think of all the students who will now receive crucial early education, thanks to this funding."
The NJDOE will provide professional development and technical assistance geared toward the implementation of high-quality preschool programming in CHPS.
