What contingency instructional plans are in place should a student need to miss school for quarantine so they don’t fall behind?
Temporary remote learning will be available for students in grades Pre-K-12 if the school confirms that they are advised to quarantine according to public health guidelines or if they test positive for COVID-19.
Each school will have a process for sharing assignments with students who are advised to quarantine due to close contact of a person who tests positive for COVID19 and/or login information if attending classes via livestream video is an option. There will be a waiting period of 1-3 days (depending on the school) to begin live temporary remote learning so that teachers can properly prepare for students to join their classes remotely.
Temporary remote learning will not be available for any reason other than close contact or a positive COVID-19 test. Students who are out sick with COVID-19 symptoms but do not yet have test results will not have access to live remote learning. Temporary live remote learning will also not be available for students who are home sick for non-COVID reasons, for students who travel, or for any other reason.
Given that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and that frequent handwashing is crucial, can you ensure that high school students will have full access to bathrooms and that bathrooms are fully stocked with soap and paper towels?
There will be several bathrooms open throughout the day at High Schools East and West. The bathrooms are generally accessible throughout the majority of the day, but there may be times when closure is necessary. We are required to limit the occupancy of the bathrooms and staff members have been assigned to monitor each location. Bathrooms may be temporarily closed during a change in shift. All bathrooms will be stocked with soap and paper towels. Additionally, hand sanitizer is available in every classroom, in the hallways, and in all offices throughout the building. We expect that students will make use of the sanitizer as a supplement while using proper hand washing as a primary practice in cleaning their hands.
Why have you decided to remove all of the trees and landscaping at Stockton Elementary School? It is highly concerning to see crews seemingly defacing the property for the past few months.
While our District was in the full remote model of instruction, the Buildings and Grounds staff had opportunities to complete much need projects through out the District. One of those projects was to address tree removal and landscaping work at many of the schools. There were several hazardous trees on the grounds of Stockton School, particularly near the primary entrance. In addition, the surrounding area had become a dumping ground for debris, trash and brush. Our Grounds Manager met with the Principal, and they developed a plan to remove hazardous trees, address security issues (such as access to the roof), clean out debris, relandscape the front entrance and prepare for an upcoming roof replacement project at the school. There is still some clean up work to be done. Principal Mr. Jim Riordan reports that he has received very positive feedback from staff and community members on the improvements that have been made.
Where can we find the results of the first two ThoughtExchange Surveys? I see results on the WE Return to Learn page but, the information there says those results are from the July 7 survey.
Are your school gymnasiums open in the evening for local residents to walk for exercise purposes? Thanks.
Because staffing is required to keep our buildings open after hours, the gymnasiums in our schools are not open to the public in the evening except for specific events.
Please provide an update on the ADA projects that were to be done this summer.
Assistant Superintendent/Board Secretary Mrs. Lynn Shugars will provide an update regarding these projects to the Board of Education at the Board Work Session on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 7 pm in the Malberg Administration Building Board Room. The meeting also will be live streamed. We will share information online about the projects after that meeting.
It appears there is a new company for the lunch account (PaySchools Central). I still have funds in the MySchoolBucks account from last year. Will the funds transfer?
Yes. The Cherry Hill Public Schools has changed the meal payment system from MySchoolBucks to PaySchools Central. Any money remaining in your MySchoolBucks account from last year will automatically transfer over to your new PaySchools Central account when you register for a PaySchools account. A step-by-step guide to signing up for PaySchools Central is available online. Please note that our District app, available for free on the App Store and on Google Play, has been updated to include PaySchools Central rather than MySchoolBucks.
When will the PARCC results from the 2018/2019 school year be added to Genesis?
We expect to post students' 2018-2019 PARCC results on Genesis by the end of September. Parents will be notified when the results are posted.
