Dear Woodcrest Family:
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! As we embark on this academic year’s journey, I wish to take this opportunity to give special greetings to those who are returning and welcome aboard those who are new to Woodcrest. It was just 6-years ago that I returned to Woodcrest Elementary─after serving as a student-teacher here nearly 3 decades ago─and I continue to feel incredibly fortunate to have rejoined this wonderful learning community!
While I commonly use the term “journey” to describe the start of each academic year, this expression takes on a whole different meaning as we continue to plan for the fall during these truly unprecedented times. Whether your child joins us remotely or for in-person hybrid instruction, our staff and faculty will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every student achieves to his or her academic potential. And while we have long recognized the importance of working in partnership with the home to foster a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning, these relationships will be even more critical as we work together to create the ideal learning experience (both remotely and in-person) for each child.
To achieve this goal, communication between the school and home will remain crucial. Your support and involvement will arguably be more important than ever before as it relates to your children’s progress.
Each of us has an important role in making this a successful school year, and we look forward to collaborating with you to achieve this goal.
Yours in education,
Jonathan Cohen, Principal
